Short description on how the Windows Phone System works.

Windows Phone system basically is made of two elements:

The Phone                                                                             *The Microsoft Account

                                                                                             *The Microsoft Account is the main email                                                                                                      address set up in your phone. 

                                                                                             *The access to the Windows Phone 8                                                                                                            Store; the Purchase History; the Backup;                                                                                                      Phone Settings are related to the                                                                                                                  Microsoft Account. 

                                                                                             *PS. If you have a Windows Phone 7 the                                                                                                      main email address set up in your phone will                                                                                                  be called Windows Live but it works as the                                                                                                  Microsoft Account in the Windows Phone 8                                                                                                (more or less)

The Windows Phone, as all smartphones, can't work without a main email address set up on it.

In order to make en email address working as a Microsoft Account (Windows Phone 8) or a primary Windows Live (Windows Phone 7) it will be necessary complete its profile in every part and register the email address to http://www.xbox.com (it doesn't matter if you don't have an Xbox Console or you are not going to use the Xbox services, this is a free and a mandatory step).
